From Our House to Yours

This is a simple and easy to reproduce card.  I used two embossing folders.  One at each end -- only embossing half of the the card stock in the embossing folders.  Then I used a greeting from Technique Junkies Gifts of Christmas - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/.  I  inked the greeting first with Versamark, and then with red ink on a panel.  Then I covered it with clear embossing powder, head heat embossed it.  It is framed on the top and the bottom with red card stock and then adhered to the white embossed panel.  Red beads with self adhesive  frame the greeting.

Have a great day and get inky!

Blog Hiatus

Dear Friends of my Blog,

I have recently had major surgery.  I am recovering very well indeed!  However, I have a good case of "Brain Fog" going on.  I am having  trouble writing a good sentence, leaving out words is a BIG issue, and I am having trouble thinking clearly.

So for a few days or so I am not going to be posting any cards.  It is not that I have no cards to post.  I do have plenty of cards to share. In fact, I have them on my blog, only waiting for me to write the verbiage about them.  But here we are, and I cannot write a  decent sentence - I keep hitting the wrong keys on the key board. So spell check is a wonderful thing!  I have never had so many corrections.

I will be back in full force soon.  Dates of posts will be adjusted and you will see all I have to share with you! I just cannot put myself and my healing process under the pressure of trying to write something!

I thank you for understanding and being patient and understanding.

God bless you all.  And please get inky!

Vintage Mantle

These two Technique Junkies just say Christmas!  And they pair so well with this festive background paper.  The Vintage Mantle stamp (www.techniquejunkies.com/vintage-mantle/)
, and the greeting from Gifts of Christmas ( www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/)  go well together.

The image is colored with my Copic Markers.  I used a festive background paper that a vintage look to me.  Lots of layers finish the card.  I felt the background paper was embellishment enough.

I enjoy making Christmas cards, and I enjoy thinking of ways to make each card be festive but simple enough to mass produce.  This sure fits that bill!

There are lots of stamps to fit every mood, to fit lots of varieties of occasions, greetings, and images in the Technique Junkies store - http://techniquejunkies.com/  -  plus there are stencils, and Art Nuvo products, and all kinds of other items.  Have you checked it out?  And do you want a discount (I always want one!), please use this code TJ10Judy to get a 10% discount.

Triple Layers

Two Technique Junkies stamps were used on this card:  Gifts of Christmas  - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/; and  Pine Cone - .www.techniquejunkies.com/pinecone/ .

There are three layers of the focal image on this card.I placed all three layers in my MISTI - http://techniquejunkies.com/misti-most-incredible-stamping-tool-invented/ - which was very imported for this card.I inked up the Pine Cone stamp with markers in sections. Because I used the MISTI of sections were not completely stamped clearly, I could accurately restamp it until I had the image stamped the way I wanted it have.

Then each layer was mated on green card stock. The final layer before the base card  was a cheery piece of background paper. Then the ribbon was was wrapped around all of the layers and a bow was tied. The saying was layered on white card stock and punched out. It was tied ti the bow wth a gold stretchy cord.

May Peace

I used three Technique Junkies Stamps to create this card. The base caerd is white which you cannot really tell on the blog.   I used Creaking Trees - http://techniquejunkies.com/creaking-trees/  ; Gifts of Christmas - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/; and Veined Marble - http://techniquejunkies.com/veined-marble/.

The background was created by placing dye ink on an acrylic block, misting the inks, and stamping the block on card stock.  Then I inked up the Creaking Tree stamp with markers and stamping them on the background.  A ruffled ribbon finished the top layer.

The green background panel was stamped with the Veined Marble stamp and layered on white card stock. The greeting was inked with Versafine black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

The Technique Junkies store has a wide variety of stamps to fit every mood, to fit lots of varieties of occasions, greetings - http://techniquejunkies.com/  -  plus there are stencils, and Art Nuvo products, and all kinds of other items.  Have you checked it out?  And do you want a discount (I always want one!), please use this code TJ10Judy to get a 10% discount.

A Little Nut

I used similar coloring mediums to create this card.  I used  both plain watercolors and Twinkling H2Os.  I also utilized sponging to create depth here and there.  I added Prills around the edge of part of the large oak leaf.  The stamps used are both Technique Junkie Stamps - Oak Relief - http://techniquejunkies.com/oak-relief/   - and Greatest Oak www.techniquejunkies.com/greatest-oak/.

I tore around the sentiment and sponged the edges to create visual interest and depth.

Miracle of Christmas

To create this lovely Christmas card, I used my MISTI - http://techniquejunkies.com/misti-most-incredible-stamping-tool-invented/ .   Do you notice the different shades of green on the pine needles?  That is because I used my Misti and I used markers of various shades of  green on the rubber,  Using the MISTI really helps with doing this.

I used two Technique Junkies stamps for my card - Pine Cone - www.techniquejunkies.com/pinecone/, and Gifts of Christmas - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/.

The focal image is layered on designer paper of pine needles.  The greeting was embossed on green vellum.

You still have until September to buy the Technique Junkies September release for 15% off!  And you can always 10% off everything else using the code TJ10 Judy.

Patchwork Stockings

One of the things I consider when I am designing Christmas cards is how easy will this design be to mass produce?  I mail out about 115 cards every year, and they are all hand made.  I make several designs only because I get bored making the same thing for more than 20 or 30 cards. This card would be easy to mass produce.

I used an embossing folder that creates quite deep embossing. Punched out stockings and ribbon bows create the focal image.

I used one of the five sentiments in the Technique Junkies Gifts of Christmas set - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/.

Please remember that there is a 15% discount on all Technique Junkies September Release stamps, and in addition you can gain a 10 % discount on everything else if you use the code TJ10Judy!

If you didn't start at the Design Team Blog -- then please start here: http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com/.  And you should have arrived at my blog from the creative Beth Norman's blog -

My first card for is created with this Vintage Mantle stamp - www.techniquejunkies.com/vintage-mantle/ .  The image is colored in with Copic markers , and the verse is heat embossed to stand out. I used a heavy embossing folder for the background. The greeting at the bottom is called The Stockings Were Hung - www.techniquejunkies.com/the-stockings-were-hung/

I used two new stamps for this card - Pine Cone www.techniquejunkies.com/pinecone/
and one from the new Gifts of Christmas set - www.techniquejunkies.com/gifts-of-christmas-set-of-5/.  It is a wonderful set with 5 greetings stamps for Christmas.  The greeting at the top and the pine cones were heat embossed. Then I fussy cut the branch and the pine cones.  I added some snowy glitter flakes and attached them the card front.  The branch is just adhered directly but the pine cones are popped up with dimensionals.

Many people give home made things for Christmas.  I often do that. And I have given some of my home canned jams or pickles or salsa or applesauce to family or friends at Christmas.   So this Happiness is Homemade set -  www.techniquejunkies.com/happiness-is-homemade-set-of-4/ -
and it works well for a Christmas card or a gift card with your gift of some home made jam. The scene is colored with my Copic markers.  But the background is a very fun technique I discovered on some one's blog.  And I am sorry I cannot remember which blog it was.
This is how you create the background which is created with the Salad Spinner technique.    First you get down your salad spinner.  If you do not have one, go to a thrift store and see if you can find one.  Or go to a discount store and buy one. Please refer to this picture and the written directions below.

1. Use a salad spinner. Place on a paper towel on top of a tin foil barrier to your counter top.
2. Create a platform.  I used card board and mounted some added thickness on the sides.  It needs to be the width of the inside of the salad spinner.
3. Use either glossy card stock or water color paper.  Liberally  spray water all over the surface.
4. Add reinkers or 5. Colorburst powders.
6. Spray with water again to make sure the surface is very wet.
7. Place the lid on the salad spinner and spin gently. Faster spinning creates more lines.
8. This is the finished product with Color Burst powders.
9. This is the finished product with reinkers.
10. Dry naturally or with a heat gun before using on cards.  Every background will be different.  This is a fun technique that requires no skill!

Please now hop along to Vicki Garrett's blog -

Don't forget to  write your comments on the Design Team blogs as you go from blog to blog.  That will increase your chances in winning one of the two $100 gift certificates to the Technique Junkies website! You may give a comment for the contest through September 5.
